Hi friends! I really thought I'd be writing more but life happens and here we are! Writing did happen in another place, though, and I'd love to share a little about it now that it's completed. Ever since studying children's literature in my early 20's I've thought about writing a children's book someday. I didn't know what it would be about then; I just loved the idea of being an author and an illustrator. Combining my love of art and children's books just made sense. Fast forward twenty years (!!!) and I'm at a point in my life where it feels like the right time to start making that idea a reality.
For several reasons, I decided to self publish; however, I am thinking of trying to publish elsewhere in the future. I just need to find the right publisher for my work. There are so many and it's a very overwhelming process! In the end, I chose self-publishing because I love learning new things and really wanted to figure out how to do this on my own and in less time than traditional publishing would take. That said, if anyone has connections with a publishing company I'd love to chat! ;)
The book itself will showcase some of my artwork with a peek inside our nature days. It's short and sweet with some big life thoughts. When writing it I envisioned parents, educators, and children reading it together before heading outside to play or hike. It's based on my experience during these last ten years of being a parent and noticing my kids naturally learn and practice life skills while playing outside, specifically in woodland areas with friends and family. As a former teacher, I had to create lesson plans for everything. When I became a parent and saw how much kids learned, especially outside, without lesson plans... it was so eye-opening! It changed the course of my life and I'm forever grateful.
I'll share my book trailer below and will share links to purchase soon! As always, thanks for your support!
